Seawater Intake Plant 1 (SWIP 1) processes and delivers chlorinated seawater – free of any particles larger than 3mm – to client premises through client pump bays or Majis’ cooling water network.
The pumping station has ten revolving bars and band screens in each distribution bay. Each of the screen sets comprises one 30mm rake screen and one 3mm revolving band screen. It includes an electro-chlorination plant that is designed for chlorine generation of 700 kg/hour, with a concentration of sodium hypochlorite of 2.0 mg chlorine/kg, composed of eight skids and three electrolyzers.
The Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant provides process water of very low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) up to 25ppm within the Sohar Industrial Port Area, Freezone, and Phase 7 of Sohar Industrial Estate. It also serves the stream of drinking water production for the same client zones.
The RO is designed to produce 12,000 m3/day of industrial process water and 8,000 m3/day of drinking water. The plant operates with an available power supply of 33 kV/6.6 kV sub-station and 50 Hz provided by Nama. The unique design of the plant results in low power consumption of 3.8-4.2 kW/m3 and operates on parameters of the TDS range of 45,000 ppm and SDI range of 35. The plant fully complies with Oman’s environmental laws and regulations. The RO Plant employs a unique Micro-Filtration process as pre-treatment and is fowled with a two-pass RO system.
Central Effluent Treatment and Recycling Plant (CETRP) provides process water of very low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) up to 25ppm within Sohar Industrial Port Area, Freezone and Phase 7 of Sohar Industrial Estate.
CETRP is designed to collect, treat and recycle industrial effluent and domestic wastewater from the tenants of Sohar Port & Freezone. This water is then used to produce Irrigation and process water. The plant is connected to a substantial collection of networks that are equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring systems to ensure proper control in case of off-specification effluent discharges. The plant comprises two set-up phases, each with a capacity of 10,000 m3/day resulting in a total capacity of 20MLD.
